OCEAN Open Doors serves youth ages 16-21 through connecting youth to community job training and job shadow opportunities and preparing them for careers through course work. This career pathway program is a partnership between OCEAN and OWL 360.
The program serves youth who have disengaged from high school before graduation or who are not on track to graduate through other district programs. Students who enroll can work towards career readiness goals and/or completion of a high school diploma.

Program Design
Students will be enrolled in a Career Choice Course that meets weekly at the Nest. Through classwork and individual meetings with their case manager students will create a personalized coursework plan based on the student's goals. Students focused on career preparation will participate in earning industry credentials, job shadows, internships, or job placement programs. Student's focused on high school completion will enroll in high school level courses which can be online or through independent contracts. Course work is self-paced and based on student's goals.
Open Doors Youth Reengagement (WAC 392-700) is a reengagement system that provides education and services to older youth, ages 16-21, who have dropped out of school or are not expected to graduate from high school by the age of 21.
Program Requirements
- Students will attend a bi-weekly check with their case manager.
- Students will attend weekly classes.
- Students will respond to communications (email/phone/text) from their case manager or teacher within one school day.
- If a student will miss a scheduled class or bi-weekly check in they will contact the teacher/case manager as soon as possible to let them know of their absence and reschedule as possible.
